I put this tutorial off for a long time
because it is so involved to write the tutorial, but so easy to make the
calendars that I never understood why anyone would need a tutorial.
Still don't, as there are very few steps.
1 design a graphic the same size as the
screen resolution you are using.
2 add cal dates and month and year.
3 save to the 'Windows' folder in the
'bmp' format.
Thats' all there is to it. Using a calendar
template makes the job easier.
Here we go.
I am going to start with an image in the
proper size for a 640X480 screen resolution.
Step 2: flood filled with white
Step 3: Add new layer and name it
trim
Step 4: I set my flood fill to pattern
and opened a tile to use.
Step 5: I set the pattern to the
tile I opened.
Step 6: I flood filled the 'trim'
layer and leaving it for the time being,
added a new layer and named it calframe.
Step 7: Next, I opened the new calframe.psp
template we just made and holding down the Ctrl key, pressed the
C key
Then I closed the calframe.psp
file
Step 8: Still on the calframe
layer, I held down the Ctrl key and pressed the V key
Now the calendar frame is in place.
Step 9: Move scroll bars for the
image until the bottom right corner of the image is visible.
Move the cursor over the lines of the
frame until you see the little 4 way arrow that allows you to drag the
selection around and drag it down and right; leave the bottom 26
pixels blank for the taskbar area; then de-select the frame
Step 10: Now add a new layer and
name it dates - I did not make a pic of this since you probably
know how to do it by now.
On the date layer now - clik on
the text tool and clik in the top left box of the frame area; bring
up the text window, select font, font size, font color and then type Sun
and clik OK.
Step 11: Position the text on the
bottom line of that box.
Now you can finish the day titles on this
row.
Step 12: Now either find a calendar
or start the dates somewhere and then find a month that starts on that
day. I generally create for a particular season, so I grab a small
calendar I keep by the computer for this purpose.
You will increase the font size for the
next step.
Step 13: Add your dates in the appropriate
spaces to complete this step.
Srep 14: Activate the calframe
layer.
Step 15: Delete the calframe
layer.
Step 16: Activate the dates
layer.
Step 17: Add the Month name and the
Year to the top of the calendar.
Step 18: activate the trim
layer and finish designing your graphic then save it to your Windows
directory in BMP format.
Why ALL of these layers?
This is why, folks! I got pompous
and look at the finished calendar;
without the layers, I couldn't fix the
goof - Do you see what I did? I'll give you a hint! How many
days does October have?
Since I learned to do this type of work
in layers, all I had to do was activate the dates layer and add
the missing date;
and I added my insignia to the same layer
and the calendar is finished and this calendar is added to the Over
the Fence Buddies Desktop Calendar Wallpaper site in the October grouping.
Even if I had put something under the dates or added another layer to put
things over the dates, I can always go back to the dates layer and
fix a mess!
Okay, I have finally fulfilled the promise
to make this tute but don't use it cause I don't need any competition for
our calendar site! LOL Tutorial for Alternate
Date Alignments for your calendar.
