Show volume-erasing sphere

January 14, 2020

Volume Eraser enables areas of volume data maps to become zeroed out interactively. Following the Volume Eraser sphere continues to be gone to live in a preferred location, data values for those points within the sphere could be set to zero. The modified data could be saved to some file with Volume Viewer. See also: Keyboard Shortcuts, mask, vop

There are many methods to start Volume Eraser, something within the Volume Data category (including in the Volume Viewer Tools menu).

Show volume-erasing sphere controls if the sphere is proven and could be moved using the mouse. This method is instantly activated when Volume Eraser is began and deactivated once the tool is closed or iconified. Upon activation, the sphere can look in the heart of the screen in the frontmost face of the present display region of information in Volume Viewer. The positioning of the sphere is forgotten upon deactivation.

The sphere’s Color could be adjusted by clicking the colour well and taking advantage of the Color Editor. The sphere’s Radius could be adjusted simply by entering something or moving the slider. The radius is initially set to 1-tenth from the largest dimension of the present display region of volume data.

Use mouse [button] to maneuver sphere controls which computer mouse button can be used to maneuver the sphere. The indicated computer mouse button, which may be altered while using pulldown menu, is reassigned from the existing function to sphere movement. Mixing the indicated button with Shift moves the sphere within the Z dimension (verticle with respect towards the screen) dragging lower/left brings the sphere forward and dragging up/right moves it away.

Clicking Erase zeroes the sphere-enclosed area of the volume data. There’s no undo capacity. However, a duplicate of the present display region is instantly generated within the first cycle of erasure, and erasures apply simply to that copy. The copy is known as following the original data when the original information is named data123, the copy is going to be named Writable copy of data123. The initial information is not affected, allowing the procedure to become restarted if your mistake is created.

After a number of cycles of erasure, the modified data could be saved to some file with Volume Viewer.

Close closes the Volume Eraser interface. Help opens this manual page inside a browser window.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Several accelerators (keyboard shortcuts) are for sale to editing volume data, including:

  • es – erase within the sphere
  • eo – erase outdoors the sphere
  • wv – produce a writable copy of the present display region in Volume Viewer (rarely needed just because a copy is produced instantly within the first erasure cycle)
Accelerators are disabled automatically. One method to enable their me is using the command ac.

Technical Notes

The sphere is implemented like a marker. The Volume Eraser sphere is implemented like a marker, like individuals produced by Volume Tracer. Moving the sphere is the same as moving a marker.

Hidden information is also erased. Data could be erased even if it’s hidden by clipping planes, zoning (with Surface Zone or zoning in Volume Viewer), or subregion selection in Volume Viewer.
